There are as many different ways of being stuck as there are human beings. For some, being stuck looks like underachieving, staying trapped in comfortable but unfulfilling lives. For others, it looks like staying in romantic, platonic, or professional relationships that encourage stasis rather than growth. Or you might find yourself overwhelmed by mental, emotional, or existential pain that make doing anything different utterly impossible. At any age, and at any phase of life, we can find ourselves stuck in habits, patterns, behaviors, or relationships that we know no longer serve us.

It can be daunting—even terrifying—to think of doing things differently, but some part of us knows we have to. We just can’t picture how. I work with people to identify, and get intimately familiar with, their stuckness, and to understand it in the larger contexts of their lives, their pasts, and their social worlds.

My work revolves around helping clients disentangle from the feelings and thoughts that keep them stuck and connect to the values and meanings that will draw them towards something new. I believe that change happens in relationship, and that we all need someone in our lives who can deeply hear and connect with us while holding out hope for something new.
